Michael Buerk

Michael Buerk, a renowned journalist and broadcaster, lends his voice and experience to our cause.

Michael Buerk is a distinguished journalist and broadcaster, with a career that began at the Bromsgrove Messenger and quickly advanced to national press and television. Best known as a BBC correspondent, Michael reported from South Africa for several years before returning to the UK. In 1984, his powerful documentary on the Ethiopian famine helped spark the "Live Aid" fundraising movement, demonstrating the impact of his work. Beyond journalism, Michael has narrated numerous programs, interviewed leading figures, and even appeared on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! He is also the author of the acclaimed autobiography The Road Taken. As a patron of Topic of Cancer, Michael uses his platform to raise awareness and support our fundraising efforts.

Michael is the partner of actress and fellow patron Alison Steadman, with whom he shares a commitment to supporting our mission. Earl of Liverpool
Earl of Liverpool, Parliamentarian & Entrepreneur

Eddie Liverpool

Eddie is a member of the House of Lords, businessman, and advocate for cancer research and patient support.

Eddie, The Earl of Liverpool, is a great-great-nephew of the 19th Century Prime Minister, the 2nd Earl of Liverpool. He first took his seat in the House of Lords in 1969 and remains one of the elected peers serving after the House of Lords Act 1999. Beyond his role in Parliament, Eddie is the Chairman of the Rutland Group, a company specializing in property developments.

As a patron of Topic of Cancer, Eddie brings his leadership and influence to raise awareness and drive support for our mission. His dedication to advancing cancer research and supporting patients is helping to make a lasting difference in the lives of those affected by cancer.

Glyn Powell-Evans is an accomplished inventor and serial entrepreneur with a long history of building and running successful international companies in the TV and film industries. Remarkably, all the companies he has started since he was 16 in 1965 are still thriving today. Having faced cancer himself, Glyn has a deep understanding of the challenges cancer patients endure. As a patron of Topic of Cancer, he leverages his entrepreneurial spirit and personal experience to help drive our fundraising and awareness initiatives, contributing significantly to our cause.

Colin has starred in many London West End shows including Five Guy's Named Moe, Smokey Joe's Cafe, Sweet Charity, Hair and SoulTrain.
