In 2016, he advanced his career by joining University College London Hospital as a Clinical Fellow in Medical Oncology. Three years later, in 2019, he moved to the Royal Surrey in Guildford, bringing his expertise in oncology to the Trust. Since joining Topic of Cancer in 2022, Dr. Koliou has significantly contributed to our mission with his profound knowledge and dedication to advancing cancer treatment.
In addition to his professional work, Alan is an active member of the Dorking Camera Club and volunteers at the Oxfam Bookshop in Dorking. He enjoys theater, cinema, and exploring the local countryside with his wife and young puppy. Alan also serves as a trustee and treasurer for the Dorking and District Preservation Society, contributing to the oversight of the Dorking Museum's rebuilding costs. Since joining Topic of Cancer as a trustee and treasurer in 2017, Alan's financial expertise and passion for community service have been invaluable to our mission.
James joined Topic of Cancer in 2022 as a way to give back to Professor Pandha and his team, who played a major role in the care of his late father, Mark Richards, over 15 years. His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication bring valuable insights and energy to our mission.
Dave has been actively involved in cancer research, participating as a PPI (Patient and Public Involvement) co-applicant in studies such as Cancer Grand Challenges, TRACERx, and TRACERx EVO. He has also held leadership roles, including chairing the Surrey, West Sussex, and Hampshire Cancer Partnership Research Group (2012-2016) and the Oesophageal Patients Association (2017-2020).
Currently, Dave serves in various roles including Patient Advocacy Advisor for the NIHR Academy, PPI Representative to the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Partnership Board, and Director of use MY data. His extensive experience and dedication have been instrumental in advancing our mission since he joined Topic of Cancer as a trustee in 2023.
Professor Pandha furthered his expertise as a visiting fellow at Stanford University before completing his medical oncology training at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London. In 2000, he became a senior lecturer in tumor immunology and medical oncology at St George's, University of London. In 2006, he was appointed Professor of Urological Oncology at the University of Surrey.
With a remarkable career dedicated to advancing cancer treatment, Professor Pandha has been a pivotal part of Topic of Cancer since its inception. His leadership and expertise in urological oncology and immunotherapy research continue to drive our mission forward.

His main research interests lie in liver cancers, both primary and metastatic, with a particular focus on resistance mechanisms to anti-cancer treatments and biomarkers. Previously, Dr. Dhillon was a Wellcome Trust clinical fellow at the University of Oxford, where he researched gene regulation in varying chromosomal environments. He also served as a senior lecturer in oncology at Imperial College London, working on cell-free DNA in lung cancer.
Dr. Dhillon's extensive expertise and dedication to cancer research are an invaluable asset to Topic of Cancer.
