Therese’s fundraiser for Topic of Cancer

Last year Therese was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer. She was asked by the Oncology Research Team to participate in an exercise research trial looking at the impact of exercise on oesophageal tumours during chemotherapy and up until major surgery. Topic of Cancer are helping fund this research.

The exercise was so beneficial to her both physically and emotionally. Her tumour shrunk more than anticipated from the chemotherapy and she knows the exercise aided this. Now she is recovered she would like to give something back to say thank you. Running is still hard but the support from the exercise team post operatively and through a second round of chemotherapy has helped her move back to fitness. On 5th October, therese is running the Guildford Half Marathon together with 2 of her daughters and some friends.
